We determine structures of the representation rings and the quasitriangular structures of 8-dimensional non-semisimple Hopf algebras over an algebraically closed field. In this talk, we would like to explain that laying emphasis on our motivation and background of this work, which comes from quantum invariants of knots and 3-manifolds.
