Zdzisław Szymański Prize for the year 2004
The Prize for the year 2004 consists of a scientific stipend of PLN 10000.
In order to further support scientific activity of the winner, the agreement between Polish nuclear physics laboratories and the French IN2P3 will award him or her with an additional scientific stipend that will cover a one-week stay in France. This stipend will be awarded according to the following rules:
The Selection Committee has selected a laureate!
We
kindly inform, that the Selection Committee of the Zdzisław Szymański Prize
at the meeting held on June 1, 2005, after a thorough evaluation
of candidates has decided to nominate Dr. hab. Bogdan Fornal for
his studies of neutron-rich nuclei excited in deep-inelastic heavy-ion
collisions, and in particular for his discovery of the neutron N=32 magic
gap.
The
Dean of the Faculty of Physics of the Warsaw University has accepted the
nomination.

The Diploma of the Prize for the year 2004 was awarded at a gala ceremony during the XXIX Mazurian Lakes Conference on Physics Nuclear Physics and the Fundamental Processes , which took place in Piaski, Poland, August 30 - September 6, 2005. Within a special session, the laureate gave an invited lecture concerning his scientific research.
