Propagation of gamma and beta activity during right hand movement and its imagination.

Kuļ R., Ginter J. Jr, Blinowska K. J. (2006) Propagation of EEG activity during finger movement and its imagination, Acta Neurobiol Exp. 66(3):195-206.

Movie 3D-1

The dynamical evolution of  the gamma activity propagation (SDTF integrated in 35-41 Hz band) for typical subject. Intensity of flow coded by color, red – the strongest).

Please note short burst of propagation from C3 – electrode overlying finger primary motor cortex and then propagation from the frontal structures, which might be connected with the perception of the movement. For imagination the propagation from C3 comes later and a cross-talk between primary motor cortex and other motor structures is visible.

Movie 3D-2

The dynamical evolution of  the beta activity propagation (SDTF integrated in 17-23 Hz band). Intensity of flow coded by color, red – the strongest).

After cue presentation please note the decrease of propagation from motor cortex. For real movement it starts earlier and lasts longer. Later the beta rebound - increase of propagation - is observed more frontally.
