Description of GCN log files

1. Log files description

Most important files are in bold :

Log file Name	Content Description	program
gcn_serverYYYYMM.log	Month log file all important GCN message like triggers , pointing info , etc	gcn_server
gcn_serverYYYYMMDD_t.log	Daily gcn server log file for test triggers TEST and IMALIVE	gcn_server
gcn_server.log	all redirected GCN messages	gcn_server
gcn_server.out	standard output file to which gcn_server is redirected when started	gcn_server
gcn_server_err.log	GCN forwared error log	gcn_server

gcn.logfile	all important GCN messsages which came from GCN or forwarder	gcn
gcn_imalive.logfile_YYYYMMDD	daily log IMALIVE and TEST triggers	gcn

integral_pointdir.log	Pointing information from INTEGRAL	gcn
swift_pointdir.log	SWIFT pointing information	gcn_server

Daily report of communication is described here ( it is currently sent from GCN to msok and lewhoo )

2. How it all works ...

The schema of gcn receiving in LCO is quite compliated, there are 2 programs :

gcn_server - this program is redirector it listens on port 5197 to messages from gcn ( see here for socket GCN details ) and redirects them to
another host and port, redirection addresses ( up to 5 ) may be defined in file piserver.cfg.
Main log file from this program is gcn_server.log , in case there is a message :

      host: 128.183.16.187
      type: (null)
      ERR: Unrecognized pkt type(=66).
      Redirecting to[ 200.28.147.186 :5188]
      -> 160 bytes send and recived
      Redirecting to[ 200.28.147.185 :5189]
      Listening...
It is not a big problem as redirection is still executed even for "Unrecognized packages" , but it should be corrected just for better diagnostics.
I found that this message was redirected and found in log file from gcn program :

     Type= 66   SN= 3    Swift SC2Slew
gcn - this program listens on port 5188 and handles gcn messages coming directly from GCN or redirected by gcn_server ( from heplx40 for
example ) . Main log file is gcn.logfile .
