Simplified illustration of the TPC principle applied to 2p
radioactivity study. Heavy ion enters the detector from the left and
stops in the gas. The cloud of primary ionisation electrons drifts to
the anode. A bit later the ion decays by emission of two protons.
Again, the ionisation electrons drift to the anode. Finally, we see on
the anode plane the projection of all tracks. Image of this projection
is captured by the CCD camera in the OTPC.The charge amplification section is not shown for clarity.
