First European Meeting
FROM PLANCK SCALE TO ELECTROWEAK SCALE

Kazimierz, Poland, May 24 - 30, 1998

The meeting will be the first in a new series of very informal meetings on physics beyond the Standard Model, organized jointly by several European groups: Bonn, CERN, Ecole Polytechnique, ICTP, Oxford, Padua, Pisa, SISSA and Warsaw.

The second meeting in this series will be organized by H. P. Nilles in Bad Honnef (Germany), April 19-24, 1999.

Venue and Travel

The meeting will be held in the Architect's House (Dom Architekta) in Kazimierz. Kazimierz is a small and picturesque town 120 km south of Warsaw. The first session will start on Monday (May 25) at 9:00, the last session will end on Friday (May 29) at 18:00.

There will be a special bus from the Warsaw International Airport to Kazimierz on Sunday (May 24) at 18:00 and from Kazimierz to Warsaw - on Saturday (May 30) at 8:30 (we shall arrive at the Warsaw International Airport at 11:30). The bus to Kazimierz will depart from the International Airport at 18:00 and will stop at the University Hotel HERA (18:15) and Institute of Physics at Hoza 69 (18:30). If you come earlier on Sunday you can leave your luggage at the reception of the Institute of Physics at Hoza 69.

You can also reach Kazimierz by train from the Warsaw Central Railway Station to Pulawy (station Pulawy Miasto - every two hours - direction Lublin) and by a town bus no. 12 from Pulawy to Kazimierz (14 km - you can buy a ticket at the driver or in newspaper kiosks). There are town buses no. 175 (ticket: 1.40 zloty) and Airport-City (ticket: 5.60 zloty) from the Warsaw International Airport to the Warsaw Central Railway Station (10 km). Bus tickets should be bought in newspaper kiosks and punched (validated) after entering the bus. The taxi price depends on the company (at least 1.40 zloty/km - please ask the driver about the price in advance).

If you come one day earlier or stay one day longer we can reserve a single room (cost: 57 - 75 zloty/day) for you in the University Hotel HERA in Warsaw (Belwederska 26/30). If you prefer a more comfortable hotel you can make reservation by Internet in other hotels.

Please inform us about your arrival and departure time, flight numbers etc. as soon as possible.

Conference Fees

The cost of accommodation and full board in Kazimierz is 1000 zloty in a single room and 850 zloty in a double room (exchange rate of April 1998: 1 US$ = 3.4 zloty). Warsaw University will be able to cover all the organizational costs, so no registration fee is required.
All the payments for accomodation and board should be made in Kazimierz in zlotys - there will be no problem to change main currencies (US dollars, German marks, Swiss and French francs, British pounds) or to use credit cards: Visa, Eurocard, Mastercard, Cirrus (change office and a bankomat are at a post office in Kazimierz).
