2 postdoc positions

The main tasks of the successful candidate will be to participate in the theoretical research linked to the LHC experimental programme, in close interactions with the experimental group at the Bergen University, on search for dark matter and new electrically neutral stable particles with mono-jet and mono-higgs signatures, constraining the mechanism of the Electroweak Phase Transition by di-higgs boson production, probing new sources of CP violation in the Higgs-fermion sector, investigating the sphaleron and mini-black hole production at the LHC and its dependence on the mechanism of the Electroweak Phase Transition.

The candidates have to conform to the conditions stated in art. 113 of Higher Education Law dated 20.07.2018 (Journal of Laws of the Republic of Poland 2020, item 85 with further amendments).

The candidate must satisfy the conditions required by National Science Centre, Poland. In particular, the candidate must have obtained a doctoral degree not earlier than 7 years before the year of employment in the project. This period does not include breaks related to maternity leave, holiday on the conditions of maternity leave, paternity leave, parental leave or educational leave, granted on the terms set out in the provisions of the Labor Code or collection sickness benefit or rehabilitation benefit in connection with inability to work, including caused a disease requiring medical rehabilitation. For women, the indicated 7- year period can be extended by 18 months for each born or adopted child. There are no constraints as to the nationality of the applicant, although there are no relocation or home-travel funds offered.

The requirements:

Candidates should have a good knowledge of quantum field theory, particle physics, basics in cosmology and experience in theoretical and/or phenomenological studies of extensions of the Standard Model. Research experience in some of the following subjects would be an asset: dark matter, evolution of the universe, non-zero temperature field theory, extra spatial dimensions, supersymmetry. Experience in computer simulations would be also an advantage.

Key responsibilities:

Participation in the research project „Understanding the Early Universe: interplay of theory and collider experiments” funded by EEA and Norway Grants and National Science Centre, Poland.

Conditions of employment:

Period of employment: 24 months; full time employment; place of employment: Faculty of Physics, University of Warsaw. The employment will take place in accordance with the regulations of the National Science Center (NCN). In particular the employed person must meet the following conditions jointly:

  • during the period of collecting this remuneration, she / he may not receive any other remuneration in any form from the NCN funds;
  • the principal investigator was not the supervisor / auxiliary supervisor in her / his PhD;
  • during the period of collecting this remuneration, she / he does not receive any other remuneration on the basis of a contract of employment with any other employer,
  • the selected candidate will be employed for a period not shorter than 6 months.

The entire procedure will be concluded before 22/01/2021. The candidate might be asked for an interview with the commission appointed by the Dean of the Faculty.
