Zdzisław Szymański Prize for the year 2013

Zdzisław Szymański Prize for the year 2013 has been awarded to

prof. Achim Schwenk
from Technische Universität Darmstadt

for his pioneering works on applying renormalization group methods
to the nucleon-nucleon interaction and nuclear many-body problem,
and for ground-breaking contributions to the understanding of
the impact of three-body forces on the structure of atomic nuclei.

The Diploma was awarded at the Physics Department of University of Warsaw on November 7, 2013. The Laureate delivered a lecture (pdf, PowerPoint) entitled „Three-body forces: From exotic nuclei to neutron stars”.

Prof. Achim Schwenk receives the Prize; from left to right: prof. A. Schwenk, vice-dean of the Physics Department dr hab. Marek Karny and director of the Institute of Theoretical Physics, prof. Wojciech Satuła.
