Notarization Requirements
-
A government-issued form of identification bearing the number you used
when you registered with the Thawte Personal Certification system —
the 'National Identification Code' (NIC). This could be your passport
number, your driving license number, your social security number, etc.
-
At least one other government-issued form of identification bearing your
photograph (e.g. a driver's license or a passport).
-
Photocopies of all identity documents shown. Note that I am required by
Thawte to keep the photocopies.
The first and last names on official identification
document and those given at Thawte registration must match exactly!
In case of any
differences I can't certify your identity. To get the names or other
registration details correct, contact
weboftrust@thawte.com
before the certification.
You will:
- sign a Thawte certification form stating that you have requested
the WOT Notary to make an assertion about your identity, that you
have read and understood
Thawte WOT rules and that the information
stated on the form is correct.
I will:
- check that your face is matching the photos on both documents,
and that Thawte data are matching the ID and possibly the birthdate
stated in documents;
- sign a Thawte certification form stating that I have checked
your identity;
- take copies of documents from you;
- keep the certification form together with copies of the documents
for a period required by Thawte (currently 5 years) and not disclose
the data to other persons;
- retain a right to destroy the form and copies of the documents
after the required period of keeping them;
- fill an online Thawte assertion form as soon as possible to allow
Thawte add points to your account for the certification (if we meet at
a place equipped with an internet access, I can fill in the online
form immediately).
I generally will assert the full amount of trust points that I am
allowed to (currently 10). However, I reserve the right to assert fewer
or no points if your identification/documentation is incomplete or
questionable.
