„Nuclear Bremsstrahlung for detailed studies of the free and in-medium NN interactions”

prelegent: prof. dr Herbert Löhner (KVI Groningen, Holandia)

Streszczenie: At the AGOR cyclotron of the KVI a series of bremsstrahlung measurements has been carried out with proton and α beams using the combination of a highly segmented photon spectrometer (TAPS) with the small-angle large-acceptance detector (SALAD) for charged-particles. High presicion cross sections and analyzing powers have been measured for p+p bremsstrahlung with 190 MeV polarized protons. For the first time exclusive differential cross sections of virtual bremsstrahlung could be determined. In 200 MeV α+p reactions ocoherent bremsstrahlung has been found, dominated by direct captureinto the unbound 5Li ground and first excited state. In 190 MeV proton-nucleus reactions the influence of the nuclear medium on the photon production has been studied by analyzing coincidences of photons with leading protons. A strong suppression of bremsstrahlung relative to a quasi-free production model using the free pn bremsstrahlung is observed. An outlook will be given on fture experiments on virtual bremsstrahliung, in-medium modifications of bremsstrahlung and pion production starting this fall at the KVI with the Plastic Ball.
