„Physics and signatures of the Quark-Gluon-Plasma: First results from the Relativistic Heavy-Ion Collider (RHIC)”
prelegent: dr David G. d’Enterria (SUBATECH, Nantes, Francja)
Streszczenie: Nucleus-nucleus collisions at ultra-relativistic energies,√s>100A GeV, aim at the production and study in the laboratory of the Quark-Gluon-Plasma (QGP), a deconfined (and chirally symmetric) phase of hadronic matter predicted by lattice QCD calculations. The experimental observables that physicists have at hand in order to probe and characterize the QGP properties will be reviewed. Then, the data from the first run of the Brookhaven’s Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC), focusing mainly on the results of the PHENIX experiment will be presented.
