„High resolution neutron diffraction at a medium flux reactor”

prelegent: dr William B. Yelon (University of Missouri, USA)

Streszczenie: Neutron diffraction is one if the most important tools in the characterization of new materials such as magnetic and superconducting phases. Special properties of the interaction of the neutron with crystalline solids enable a wealth of information to be extracted from investigations of polycrystalline samples. At the University of Missouri we have developed a novel diffractometer based on focusing of the neutron beam in scattering space (using bent perfect crystals) and based on position sensitive detection of the neutrons, that yields high throughput and high resolution even at a small (medium flux) reactor such as is available in Poland.
