„Proton and two-proton decays in-flight studied by tracking technique.”

prelegent: dr Ivan Mukha (GSI Darmstadt)

Streszczenie: A powerful detection technique applied to in-flight decays of proton-unbound nuclei is described on examples of 15F, 19Na, 16Ne, 19Mg. In all measurements, angular correlations between each fragment stemming from the precursor's decay in flight were measured. The respective trajectories of the fragments were tracked by micro-strip detectors. Their angular correlations provided information on the decay energies, masses and life times of the parent nuclei. This novel technique has a crucial advantage over conventional methods because it provides high-precision data on the most exotic nuclei produced with extremely small rates. Many more unknown nuclei can be studied with it at the present and new-generation radioactive beam facilities, e.g. Super-FRS of FAIR.
