How to "cook" oxide nanostructures?

This seminar will outline the historical background and development of anovel hydrothermal approach for the growth of oxide nanostructures on avariety of substrates. Particular emphasis will be placed on a newlydeveloped technology enabling the rapid growth of high-quality ZnOnanorods. Their structural and functional properties, together withtheir potential applications in optical photodetectors and photovoltaicdevices, will be discussed. The seminar will further address a method for the growth of copper(II)oxide layers and ongoing efforts toward their implementation inelectronic memory cells. Both technologies offer exceptionally fastgrowth rates, low equipment and reagent costs, and mild processingconditions at atmospheric pressure - hence the humorous term“cooking” nanostructures.
