Banach's report

Tonight I dreamed about two top Polish mathematicians, who were in England during the Second World War, when London was heavily bombed by Germans, and there was a high possibility of land invasion leading to a conquer, and subsequent mass atrocities. One of these mathematicians was Stefan Banach, who had something like a quarter of Hermann Weyl and a bit of Gustav Jung in himself. Both of them have agreed to take a part in a duel with something that was of otherworldly character, and it felt as if it was a manifestation of an evil itself. It was clear that this duel may have a mortal outcome, but they decided to participate in it voluntarily, as a matter of honour. Banach's duel was to be held only if the other mathematician would loose.

The place of a duel looked like an abandoned hydroelectric power station. When the mathematician went there, there was something that had a human form that tried to kill him, by a kinetic explosion in a direct contact. When he had skilfully contained this attempt, then the thing transformed, and mathematician's body and consciousness became heavily immersed in, as if parasitised by, intense pulsation, that had semi-amoebic, quasi-mechanical pattern, that seemed to be limitlessly and acceleratingly growing in density and in amplitude. It felt very organic, yet in some sense also artificial, and certainly aimed at an evil goal. The mathematician was taken by a surprise, regarding the characteristics and intensity of this attack. However, despite being partially conquered by a deep immersion into this pulsation, he resisted to it in the core of his mind, and from this place he counterattacked with the heavy effort of the pure mental focus, removing this pulsation from his body, soul, and mind, and pushing it back to its origin. When this happened, he saw that the physical source of this experience was some sort of a fine-crafted metallic clockwork mechanism, that was apparently inducing some sort of waves, activating internal deformations of the body and mind.

He went to Banach to tell him that we won the duel, and to share with him the whole experience, as well as the mechanism that he has found in the aftermath. During that time Banach lived at one of the top floors of a very high skyscraper, more in the style of Chicago or New York than that of London, so this place was especially exposed to German bombings. Since Banach knew that it is quite possible that both of them may die due to German submarine torpedo attack, during an upcoming evacuation from England to United States by ship, he decided to write down a short but precise report, and hide it, together with the mechanism, in some safe place that will survive the war and its uncertain outcome. This report contained the analysis of waves induced by this mechanism, their effects, and the theoretical sketch on their nature. The main hypothesis was that these waves, which he called a “primordial pulsation”, are responsible for emergence of both ontic objects and cognising subjects by means of breaking the symmetry of a vacuum, and, at the same time, they are underlying the nature of life itself, through the dynamics of construction and deconstruction of the object-subject conglomerates, admitting consistency among many objects and subjects in the long wave range, but allowing for highly nonlinear transformations in the short wave range, when limited to few object-subject nodes. The most striking thing was the implicit conclusion coming from this analysis, stating that the aliveness and the evil are ontic aspects of the same wave dynamics, and thus they are inseparable in principle, although they can be contained within various ranges (similarly to how the waves induced by the mechanism were pushed back into it by the focal effort of the mathematician's mind during the duel). The style of this report was quite dry, and sounded as something written by a mathematician, which was in a heavy contrast with its contents.

I've found this report among some papers and books left by Banach in England, which were in the possession of his grandson, who stored them in the abandoned room at the rooftop of some house. He was fond of Banach as a mathematician, but quite reluctant to speak about the report itself. When I have asked him about the fate of the mechanism, he said that he have sent it to some museum in India. However, the way in which he said it felt quite sketchy and vague, and from this it became clear to me that there is some other story to it that he does not want to admit. I was also not able to make a copy of Banach's report. Later in the dream I have encountered few small insects that also exhibited kinetic explosions as the preemptive stage of the primordial wave induction, but the latter was applied as the means of containment of an ontic evil, not as an induction of it.
